The biblical Magi, also referred to as the Wise Men or Kings, were – in the Gospel of Matthew and Christian tradition – distinguished foreigners who visited Jesus after his birth, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. There is an Armenian tradition identifying the “Magi of Bethlehem” as Balthasar of Arabia, Melchior of Persia, and Gaspar of India. Epiphany, commonly known as Three Kings’ Day in the United States, is on January 6. The three Kings are still as magically potent today as they were 2,000 years ago.
