In Santerismo The 7 African Powers are spirit guides not Orishas. They are actually spirits of the dead from the seven different African tribes that were brought to Cuba and forced into slavery which were the Congo, Mandika, Yoruba, Calabari, Takua, Kissi and Arara. A person who has The 7 African Powers will have one spirit guide from each of these tribes unique to him, and one of the seven will dominate the group and orchestrate their efforts. Many Puerto Ricans that practice Santerismo differentiate the African Orisha and the Catholic Saint. Petition the 7 African Powers for money, power, love, opportunity, protection, peace and harmony.
Directions for Use
Spirits love fragrant smells, aromatic colognes, fine incense, and essential oils. They will not come unless your ritual space is clean and your body is clean. Always shower well before conjuring spirits and anoint yourself with the Santerismo oil of choice to call the specific spirit group you want to communicate with.
Basic offerings to give your spirits is light with candles, a glass of cold water, or a cup of black coffee. Do research on the spirits you are trying to call and learn about their culture so you know what they like. Purify and banish negative energy from your space, you do not need to sage, just use the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. Then create a ritual to call the well intentioned and good spirits of your group to give you guidance. Saying prayers, playing music, and dancing to celebrate the spirits lives can also be a part of your veneration.
